Day 1 - AMber - scared of a year of this. But Committed.

I joined the post with Lee and Paula for a couple of reasons. No I'm not technically overweight (thanks to my decent metabolism)...but since middle school I've been plagued with the desire to workout and eat well coupled with crummy knees and hip muscles and an obsession with chocolate (uh...and cheesecake...yikes). After being married for a year, I've lost any muscle I probably ever had, only gained about 5 pounds, but clothes hardly fit and lots of stuff has shifted for the worst. And, worst of all, I can feel the metabolism slowing. More than anything, I need the accountability. My body needs 5+veggies. 2+fruits. 8 glasses of water. 8 hours of sleep. At least for now, only 1500 calories. Daily. And merely to start, plenty of cardio with additional weight lifting to get these knees the muscle they need to be hard core.

I just want to be hard core. To sweat. To be ABLE.

So, today went well. Swim class (hardly a workout - just learning techniques) followed by a 20 minute swim. By swim I mean 1 lap, followed by lots of coughing and hard breathing and resting, followed by another lap...repeat the process. Thus the reason for a swim class. However, today is workout #2 for this week. 1 more to go. 1440 calories currently, but I'm craving something sweet, so just enough ice cream to keep me at 1500 and satisfy the craving.

I've learned recently also, setting yourself up for success takes work but is better than failing miserably. I gotta start making snack bags and bringing my lunch to go. Got really hungry at the store today and got chocolate milk and Pirate's Booty...still below calories, but a small reminder to make lifestyle changes for my betterment. :-)

  2. BAHAHA!! Better than the stupid Splenda ice cream I ate. I bought it a few weeks ago thinking it would taste good...but I just can't get over the Splenda after taste. I'm now officially convinced...just buy the good stuff and eat it moderately. (or forgo dinner and not eat moderately....either way, heh.)
